About Us

Hello... and welcome to my site! My name is Denise De Moya, and I’m the owner of Zuhé Beads & Crafts. I’m also a jewelry designer and art lover. I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertisement and specialized in Corporate Public Relations. Art, in all its forms, is my passion... handcrafts, floral design, painting, dancing, cooking, baking, music, and jewelry design, of course!

My passion for beading, jewelry design, and teaching was the “excuse” to open up a bead store back in 2008. It was conveniently located next to 826 – The Palmetto – between NW 58th St. & NW 36th St. My store was a dream come true and I treasured every moment I worked and taught there! Regretfully, the economic conditions at the time made it very challenging to stay in business and on December of 2010 I decided to close the store, pack, and set up a “mini” store & school at home.

On the last quarter of 2011 I was hired to work full time at a local company that does business with Latin America (no, not bead related), and was happy to manage the bead store and the classes after work and on weekends. As of January of 2012 I decided to focus on the teaching, and have a very minimal inventory of beads, supplies and tools. I keep in stock only the necessary supplies to meet the requirements of my new and existing students.

My classes are private (one-on-one) or for small groups of friends / acquaintances. I’ve always believed that personalized and undivided attention is the best way to teach and learn a craft. I also do bead parties when I’m invited to teach guests. Young or adult, everybody enjoys and appreciates the “novelty” of being entertained in such a manner in the party. I match the beads & findings I bring in for the class with the colors / motifs of the party. It is always a lot of fun, and the guests get to keep their designs!

By the way, if you’re wondering about the store’s name, Zuhé, it means “sun” or “God of Sun” in an ancient pre-Hispanic culture. This symbol of light, truth, and life has been incorporated into the store’s logo. The sun’s spiritual, mystical, and physical attributes are known to bring prosperity, health, protection, realization, life, wealth, and the purest form of love, among other.

I invite you to enter the world of beading... there is beauty in it, and much to learn & enjoy!
